A lot! You can see everything you need to know about a
position and more. You can see the hiring source name,
description, location, title an you can see all the applicants you have
identified or searched out for the position. But
this list of applicants is just not a simple list of names.
Applicant Tracking is taken to new heights
because you can tell; If the applicant has been contacted about
the position; If the references have been checked; If you have a
resume; If the candidate's resume
been presented; What the client thinks about the applicant. Other recruitment
software systems of course can provide this information, but at what price in terms of the
recruiter's time? Successful recruiting firms are all
about time and timing!

Ok, so I have your attention
if you have read this far. You may agree we have a point, but
still, you need to see yet a more concise description of how you are
doing. Perhaps something that you can even show your client in
order to give him confidence that you are on top of the situation
and in complete control. I think we are talking about a
report! But a report frozen in time does no one any good. Or
worse a report manufactured at the end of the day with a story
that goes something like this.
"Lets see how many resumes
have we sent? I better ask all the recruiters and take a
count. Oh yes I think Alice who is not working the assignment
may have done some work I better check and see if she found any
other applicants. I better call the client and get a count of
the resumes sent and see which ones he is interested in. I
better ask all the other recruiters if they are expecting any more
resumes coming in."
Holy molly! This is worse than doing
your tax return and in the end probably less accurate than your
tax return. A good report should come right from
your recruiting software by reporting on what is naturally in
your database. And the more natural it is for recruiters to use
the database to record and view the better and
more accurate are your reports. A report has to
be current. If your using a Gopher for your recruiter software
than you have an 'up to the second', report highly accurate and
complete. Anytime you click for the progress report on the
menu you get a complete accurate comprehensive report as partially
shown below. The report will show you the number of applicants and at
what stage they are in. There are up to Fifteen stages
that can be reported on and you can define or customize Eight
of them.
