Red Names and Yellow boxes

Gopher Colors Convey valuable Information

Why do we say Gopher is a one page system?  Because a single page in Gopher conveys a ton of information.  We use colors to help give recruiters as much information as possible without navigation - not because they're pretty! Ok, so it smacks in the face of intuitiveness just like all those crazy abbreviations in tweets, text messages and emails.  But like many things in Gopher, taking a few minutes to learn the meanings behind the colors will pay off by being able to review and provide information much faster!

Here are the colors we are going to cover in this news letter:

  • Red last name - Do not contact.
  • Blue last name - Former Associate or Former placement.
  • Dark Red company name - Do not recruit from this company.
  • Company name box is yellow  - The company you searched for is in this person's work history.
  • Title box is yellow  - The title you searched for is in this person's work history.
  • All white boxes - This person is an applicant.
  • All light blue boxes - This person is a client or hiring manager.
  • Red letters in all boxes - You are about to delete this record and all associated records for this person!
How to change colors of text and boxes
  • Red last name is seen when the status of this person is changed to "P" for Placed.  It's not a good idea to recruit people away from the jobs that you have placed them in!
  • Blue last name is seen when the status of this person is changed to "F".  F can stand for a former placement, former employee or whatever you want.  Don't have an F status?  Contact Gopher Support and we can help you customize your Gopher dropdown values.
  • Dark Red company name is seen when the company association is set to "Recruit No".  To get to this setting, double click the Company name to open the Company Snap Shot, select Association from the top menu and click "Recruit No."  This is to tag companies that you know you should not recruit from for whatever reason.
  • Company name box is yellow when the company name you searched for is not the current company displayed but is in this person's Work History record.  This and the following item are both options you can turn on/off by checking/un-checking the "Include Work History in Profile Queries" option from the Options menu on the top toolbar in Gopher.
  • Title box is yellow when the title you searched for is not the current title displayed but is in this person's Work History record.
  • All white boxes are seen when this person's A/C box is "A".   White boxes indicate Applicant data.
  • All light blue boxes are seen when this person's A/C is "C".  Blue boxes indicate Client data.
Note: The A/C box is the 1st box on the 5th row of the profile tab.
  • Red letters in all boxes - The profile tab is the current tab and you clicked the delete button .
