Outlook Syncing to Gopher

If you would like your Outlook emails to be available for publishing and viewing in Gopher, you must first sync your Outlook to Gopher.  The syncing process will add to a table in your Gopher database a link to the email in your Outlook .pst file.  This will make searching and viewing a much faster process, as Gopher won’t have to search your entire Outlook for the email you wish to view.  Once you have synced your Outlook to Gopher, you may publish to Gopher via a note or memo any email that is in your Outlook, view the email as it appears in Outlook, view all emails sent to or received from a particular individual and more.

Note:  If you are using Gopher in a multi-user environment, the Outlook Syncing process will need to be completed by each individual user of Gopher.  Emails that should be made viewable for all users must be published to Gopher after the syncing process is complete.

To sync your Outlook to Gopher, click Outlook on the Gopher menu bar and select Outlook Syncing to Gopher

SyncGopherYou must first select a folder from your Outlook that you want to sync to Gopher by clicking Folder Selection on the Sync Gopher menu bar and selecting the applicable folder.  The folder options are Inbox, Sent Items or the folder currently selected in your Outlook.  If you wish to sync a folder that is not listed on the Folder Selection menu, click Cancel on the Sync Gopher form.  Open Outlook if it is not open and highlight the folder you would like to sync.  In Gopher when you choose to sync again, the highlighted folder will appear on the Folder Selection menu.

Once a folder has been selected, the total number of items in that folder will be displayed.  Click the Start button in order to begin the syncing process.  A progress bar will keep you informed of the progress.  Once the process is complete, you will see a message stating the number of emails synced to Gopher.  At this time you may select another folder to sync, or click the Close button.

Note:  When syncing a folder to Gopher, sub folders are not automatically included in the sync.  You must select the sub folders individually in order to sync them to Gopher.
